North Yorkshire Council’s Campaign
Pension Credit
Updated figures from DWP reflect that £22million Pension Credit is still eligible and not claimed across North
Yorkshire. Yes - £22,000,000!
North Yorkshire Council are now live with the pension credit campaign, if customers ring the Customer Service
number and say "Pension Credit" they will get through to an advisor who will transfer the call to the appropriate
Income Maximisation team, and they will check for eligibility and assist with the claim. The customer service
number is 0300 131 2131.
The team will also be able to look into other benefits residents are entitled to and might not be receiving.
Let’s get some of that £22million into our North Yorkshire residents’ pockets. Please share amongst your
networks.

2026 garden waste service
Residents can now pay for their licence for the 2026 garden waste collection service.
A licence costs £52 for collections between March and early December. The licence covers one 240-litre wheelie bin to be emptied fortnightly. Anyone who wants to have more than one bin emptied will need to pay for a licence for each additional bin. Residents can also pay for a licence at any time throughout the season but are encouraged to do so before the start of the service in March as the cost remains the same.
Once paid, a licence pack should arrive within 14 days.
Future Ready Fuel campaign OFTEC
I am writing to you regarding the Future Ready Fuel campaign. You may be already aware that the government is currently consulting on alternative low caron heating options. For households in rural parishes, this is important because many such homes may not be easy to convert to the governments preferred low carbon solution (low temperature heat pumps) without significant cost and disruption.
OFTEC are asking for your input to share amongst your residents, particularly those who use oil heating.
For more information and to have your say, visit Stand up for the future of your home heating.
The closing date is the 10th of February.
Sandbags
North Yorkshire Council is simplifying its approach to supporting communities who need access to sandbags during a flood incident.
From the beginning of October 2024 if a member of public requires access to sandbags they should Google Sandbags North Yorkshire. If there is an immediate need for sandbags then they can call 0300 131 2 131 and either say Sandbag when prompted or follow the instructions.
